Alice was born in Chicago, IL. to a dynamic duo, James and Alice Sanderson who were members of the Union Valley Quartet from Holly Springs, MS. They toured many parts of Mississippi singing at different churches until moving to Chicago. There were many days that Alice and her sisters sat around the dinner table singing and harmonizing with each other. It was only natural that someone out of this family of 7 girls and 2 boys would go on to sing professionally.
Alice began her career as a [commercial jingle] and backup singer of secular music and the quality of her voice was always a standout as she was featured on many of those recordings with or behind Natalie Cole, Brian Duncan, Nancy Wilson, Lionel Richie, Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Curtis Mayfield, etc. Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield were the first celebrities in Chicago to notice the young vocal magic of AliceÕs talent and gave her, her first big break.
Alice has toured around the world with The Isley Brothers, Deniece Williams, Jeffrey Osborne, Helen Baylor and Gladys Knight, appearing also at the White House. She is also a noteworthy songwriter penning songs with her husband/producer Keith Echols for many general market and gospel-recording artists alike. Helen Baylor of Word Records recorded one of her Gospel Hits titled Highly Recommended.
It was in 1981 that Alice began a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and immediately began using her voice as a soloist and praise and worship leader in some of the largest churches across the country and for many Christian outreaches. This lead her to a BMG record project in 2001, titled Stand Up America in which she delivered stellar solos and a duet with well-known recording artist Michael Sembello.
